Friend Hostel: a small Samlan Road base with shared bathrooms

Historical guests valued personal advice and a central Old City setting, with the side-street entrance worth locating in advance.

Identify the right Friend Hostel

Friend Hostel is listed at 3/44 Samlan Road, Chiang Mai Old City. It is distinct from Bee Friend Hostel on Charoen Prathet Road. Check the address when comparing offers or giving directions, especially when a search returns similarly named accommodation.

Listings describe shared bathrooms, Wi-Fi, luggage storage, laundry and airport transfers. Shared facilities should be treated as part of the accommodation choice, rather than assuming that a private bedroom includes a private shower. Confirm transfer availability and charges separately if relying on an airport arrival arrangement.

A personal welcome in the older accounts

Juuulie11’s August 2016 Tripadvisor account praised cleanliness, the central position and useful advice from the owner. Charlotte B, reviewing in July 2015 after an initial three-night Songkran stay that April, returned to the property and appreciated host Tik’s local advice. The same guest noted that the entrance was off the main street and needed directions.

Another July 2015 account described a balcony room with the shower room next door. Historical visitors also described three guest rooms across two floors on a quiet side street. Those details belong to earlier stays, rather than a guaranteed current room count or layout.

Settle the room and arrival details

Obtain an entrance pin and check-in instructions before travelling. For the room itself, establish floor, bathroom access and whether any balcony belongs to the selected category. Friend Hostel’s older appeal is a small-scale Old City base with personal help; the practical decision now is whether its shared facilities and current arrival arrangements suit the stay.
