A hostel base in Thong Sala

Phangan Barsay Hostel is at 158/6–7 Moo 1, Thong Sala, Koh Phangan. Advertised facilities include a shared kitchen with stove, microwave, refrigerator, kettle, cookware and crockery. Wi-Fi, lockers, luggage storage, parking and communal spaces are also listed.

The kitchen makes simple self-catering possible, subject to the equipment available during the stay. Social activities should be treated as variable programming rather than guaranteed parts of a booking.

Maintenance reports differ within weeks

Nabi’s June 2026 Hostelworld account found a friendly, clean environment, helpful staff, an easy stay extension and luggage storage. Cairistidh’s July 2026 account also found staff kind, but reported dirty bathrooms, one broken shower, weak water in the other, a sliding room door replaced by a curtain and nonworking main lights.

These reports are close enough in time to make a single cleanliness verdict unhelpful. Ask specifically about bathroom and room-door condition if those issues would affect the decision.

A longer stay had a stronger social appeal

Fabio M’s Google account, reproduced by Wanderlog and dated 12 May 2026, described nearly two weeks in spacious, air-conditioned dormitories with clean bathrooms. A volunteer community offered yoga and breathwork during that visit.

That experience explains the hostel’s possible social appeal, while the later maintenance report remains a relevant qualification. Confirm current activities and facilities directly; the programme Fabio encountered should not be treated as a continuing inclusion.
